Israa's Dreams at Age Nine
"I hope the sun rises & the earth will dry." These are the words of a young girl trying to describe how the flooding swallowed all their meagre possessions.
She is cold & she just wants to go home, like millions of other displaced people.
Where is justice? Nine year old Israa doesn't dream of owning a pony or going to Disneyland like most girls her age in other parts of the world.
Israa dreams that the sun will shine down and dry up all the rain water and mud.
She dreams for her family tent to be dry and usable again.
She dreams of being warm, and having dry clothing.
Living in a tent, in a camp for the displaced, takes away all the sweet dreams, and leaves behind dreams of basic needs, basic survival.
