Do you know what is the most expensive passport in the world?
You may assume that Japan or Singapore might have the most expensive passports.
But take a guess.
It is Syria! A Syrian passport costs $800 for those of us who are outside our home country.
Syrians forced to live outside the country have to pay a whopping $800 for a passport that allows us into ONLY 28 countries, (and many of these require a Visa as well, that probably won’t be approved).
Now, if we’re willing to wait much longer, (around 8 months), we can possibly get one for $400.
Compare this to a US passport which costs citizens $145 and can be received within a few days to a few weeks. And this passport allows them to travel anywhere in the world.
I tell you all of this because it’s funny, really. Imagine that you are trapped in one country, that is not your homeland, because of war and dictatorship in your country.
Please appreciate how lucky you are if you are not Syrian.
We can’t go back home.
We can’t travel anywhere either.
