IWD23 message about the unwavering faith of Syrian women

Fatima Aref, a volunteer with the White Helmets in Syria. On this International Women’s Day, I want to talk about the unwavering faith of Syrian women.

Women are often the biggest victims of war, but in Syria, we have shown an incredible resilience and determination to rebuild our communities and support each other. Despite the many challenges we face, we have faith in our abilities to make a difference.

As a White Helmets volunteer, I have seen firsthand the strength and courage of Syrian women. We work tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected by the conflict, often risking our own lives to do so. We have become leaders in our communities, taking on important roles in rebuilding efforts and advocating for peace.

But the road ahead is still long and difficult. Many Syrian women continue to suffer from the effects of the war, including displacement, poverty, and trauma. We need the support of the international community to help us rebuild our lives and create a brighter future for ourselves and our children.

So, on this International Women’s Day, I call on everyone to recognize the incredible strength and resilience of Syrian women. Let us stand together in solidarity and support each other as we work towards a better tomorrow.
