This picture is of 13-year-old “Abd al-Rahman Sheikhoun” — a Syrian refugee in Lebanon.

A girl photographed him reading “Broken Wings” by the Lebanese-poet/writer “Gibran Kahlil Gibran”, while the child was working in a store selling laundry detergent.

Sheikhoun had to quit school, but he continues to read avidly, reading is his daily hobby.

– The shot depicts the depth of the painful journey that the Syrian people are taking today with broken and bleeding wings.
