Syrian people face a new year with hope

On the cusp of a new year, the people of Syria stand, hoping that with it will come to an end to their tragedy. May their wishes for the bombings to stop, and for a safe return to their homes from which they were displaced, be granted.

As the year 2022 ends, the people of Syria stand on the brink of a new year. Yet with it comes renewed hope for the people, who have suffered through years of violence. For some, these hopes are only hopes; many have been injured or killed in the bombings, and others have lost homes they had lived in for many years, and are now displaced on their streets. They wish that with this new year, there will be an end to these horrors — yet while they wait in hope, they also pray that their wishes come true.

The people of Syria are still recovering from the horrors of war, which has resulted in the displacement of millions. On the cusp of a new year, they stand hoping that with it will come to an end to their tragedy.

The New Year is a time of optimism when we look forward and expect our wishes to materialize. And yet the people of Syria stand on the cusp of this new year with such low expectations. They have lost all hope. They have been attacked by bombs that have killed and injured their loved ones, destroyed their homes, and scattered their families. Nothing can possibly exceed their expectations should this cease. It is my wish for them also for new hope as well as an end to these senseless and unwarranted acts of violence against them
