Lin clings to the only memory she has left of her friend Naya after Naya’s life was taken away by warplanes. World Childrens Day is an opportunity to celebrate children, but the children of Syria have been forced to grow up too quickly, their childhood & innocence robbed.

Lin is a girl from Syria who has been forced to grow up too quickly in the midst of war. She has lost many friends and family members in the past few years, including her best friend Naya. When asked what she would do if she could change one thing about her life in Syria, Lin replied: “I wish that there would be peace between all countries so that my mother wouldn’t cry every day because she misses her family.”

This year World Children’s Day aims to raise awareness on child rights and provide support for children around the world who are vulnerable due to conflict or natural disasters such as earthquakes or hurricanes. The theme this year is “Dignity of Risk”, which recognizes that risk-taking is an important part of childhood development and helps children develop resilience so they’re better prepared for adulthood later on down the line.

Lin has already been through so much in her short life; we hope that by celebrating World Children’s Day together we can help
