The reality of children’s camps may be different from their peers outside the camps. Peers who enjoy a stable life are held by the arms of their warm families. But childhood remains the mutual feature between them, as it is the elixir of their souls and the engine of their dreams and ambitions.

Here you will truly see (snow princesses), not in Walt Disney, but rather in Northern Syria, where the winter of the displaced is covered with the “killer” white. Here is Syria, where children and snow princesses live, holding their hearts trembling and their small bodies quivering with bewildered smiles and lost looks dreaming that the tent would not turn into “homeland”.

We may be troubled by the eyes of the displaced children inside the camps, where they blame us with tears that they have deliberately imprisoned and breaths that have been exhausted by the miserable reality and the cold winter that afflict them and their tents at this time of the year when the white winter dress becomes very severe on their weak, exhausted bodies and their tattered tents.

They are still those young people who dream of a better future and imagine fantasies of what their next years will be like.

While the children dealt with the snow as soon as it fell with their instinctive spirit of childhood, they quickly realized that reality is not like the imaginations of young children and cartoon images, where they see the laughing snowman and flying snowballs.

The children’s inner voice after the snow falls is: “We live in a camp. The first time I saw the snow, I loved it so much, but at night it was very cold and I couldn’t sleep well. I don’t want snow anymore and I’ve started to hate it so much. Now I want the sun to shine again to warm my frozen body.”
