Congratulations to United States President Elect Joe Biden! We hope he will make things better for the American people, along with improving situations for other world nations, including Syria.

When comparing Biden to Trump, we acknowledge that Trump initially gave us some hope with the 2018 missile and airstrikes hitting multiple Assad regime targets. He also did the entire world a service by dropping a bomb on the heads of war criminals Qasem Suleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. And he signed the Caesar Act to place sanctions on Assad regime war criminals. We are forever grateful for these actions.

But let us not forget Trump’s Executive Order 13769 which stopped most Muslim refugees from entering the USA, and stopped the entry of Syrians entirely. This was essentially a ban on Muslims, as Trump referred to Muslims as “terrorists”. Trump also stopped financial support for the opposition in Syria, thus allowing the Assad regime to gain strongholds in many areas.

As one in four of all refugees in the world is Syrian, and 1.4 million more Syrian civilians were displaced in 2020, we applaud the promises from future President Biden.

Biden has promised to remove the Muslim ban on his very first working day in the White House! And to support the Caesar Act and others like it. He wants to increase humanitarian aid, to work at rebuilding the political process in Syria and to prevent more attacks on Idlib.

We look forward to a brighter future for the USA, for Syria, and all the world, once President Elect Biden takes office on January 20, 2021. Congratulations and best wishes.
