Can We Change the World? A Question of Humanity

A profound question has always echoed in my mind: Can we truly change the world, or is this idea merely a fleeting emotional notion? If we genuinely desire to bring about this change, where do we begin?

Change demands a new generation imbued with a different vision, a generation that firmly believes the future is within our grasp and that the world can indeed become a better place. Yet, when we examine reality closely, we discover that this generation is the most exhausted. We have endured prolonged years of suffering and pressure, carrying burdens on our shoulders heavier than we can bear. We have reached a point where we no longer seek change; we simply yearn to escape from everything around us.

The situation is exacerbated by the seemingly endless wars that have become an ingrained part of our lives. We scroll through news of death and destruction as if they were mere daily occurrences. Our hearts have become desensitized to the increasing number of casualties, and we pay little heed to the figures reflecting the immense pain and suffering.

Ukraine, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Sudan—these places have become synonymous with death. Every morning we wake up to new death tolls, as if they were part of our daily routine. But behind each number, there are untold stories, lives cut short, and dreams shattered.

In 2023 and 2024, thousands of children were killed in endless conflicts. How terrifying it is that we speak of these numbers as if they were simple statistics. We are talking about children—the future of the world!

We now inhabit a world where scenes of bloodshed and news of killings have become commonplace. We follow them without experiencing the shock or sorrow we once did. Our desensitization to violence has stripped us of our humanity. We perceive the victims, especially the children, as merely part of a recurring scene.

Therefore, I implore you, my friend, do not allow these scenes to become ordinary in your heart. Remember that every victim yearns for justice, and that silence in the face of this injustice is a silent contribution to the perpetuation of violence. We must be the voices that demand justice, the ones who stand against murderers and criminals. Silence is a betrayal of humanity and of the innocent souls.
