Egypt shares their latest archaeological discovery, that includes at least 59 ancient coffins holding mummified bodies, some 2,500 years old. The mummies were probably important people of ancient Egypt, such as priests or senior statesmen, (from the 26th dynasty).

The sarcophagi were discovered in the burial ground of Saqqara, south of Cairo, buried with many statues.

Egyptian archaeologists say that most of the coffins are in good condition and will be transported to the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is being prepared for its opening in 2021 to help boost tourism.
